Make sure your website is e-Commerce ready before you start selling online. This checklist will help you align what you sell with what your customers are looking for. Make sure you tick all the boxes to comply with the expectations of your payment provider!

Provide the following contact points to give your customers different ways to reach out and connect with your business. The ability to communicate with you naturally makes your business more visible and transparent giving the customer confidence that if they need to they can reach you easily. Ensure you have the following contact points where possible.

☐ Physical Address to be displayed.

Establish Trust with Your Customers
Your customers will often look for validation or other customers’ experience to help them to decide if they want to do business with you. Do your best to create an environment where your customer feels comfortable to transact in an e-commerce environment with your business.

☐ Reviews – How do others use your products and services, and why?
☐ An informative overview of what you are selling to encourage customers to buy.
☐ What’s in it for your customer if they shop with you? What should they expect if they buy with you?
☐ What do your customers look like? Who are they so a customer can identify with them? Industry profiles or sectors you service.
☐ Social Proof to validate your business customer service.
☐ Resources/Help to support your customer if they shop with you.

Does your customer know who you are? Knowing more about your business gives your customer a feeling that they are able to make an informed decision when they transact with you. Make sure you include content to support what your customer needs to see and what they expect to see.

☐ Display any relevant licencing or qualifications on your website to demonstrate your professionalism, and authority to operate in your industry, if appropriate.
☐ SSL Certificate for peace of mind for your customer’s security when they transact with you.
Establishing Your E-Commerce Shopping Cart and Checkout Process
The integration of a shopping cart and the checkout process is not just technology at work. Give thought to what you display so this process is transparent and the customer knows what they will pay and has no surprises.
☐ Ensure you show the credit card fee and that it is not higher than what SQID charges you. – e.g. no surcharging
☐ Your pricing aligns with your merchant application pricing that you advised us. If you have packages or any other variation, you must notify SQID immediately.
☐ Your products and services must represent what you disclosed in your application that you are selling, and if this changes at all, you need to let SQID know immediately.
☐ Your merchant account is only used for the business you applied for.
☐ What are your delivery costs or other costs, and are they displayed adequately for your customer to understand what they are being charged?
☐ Customer Receipts are downloadable for your customer’s records.
☐ Visibility of Payment types available, e.g. Visa/Mastercard/Amex.
